Data Visualization

Capabilities

I worked on a data visualization project that aimed to represent business surveys in the Swiss economy. These surveys involve entrepreneurs from different sectors, asking them to express opinions about the current situation of their business, providing answers in terms of positive, negative or neutral situation.

Abstract

Data Visualization

The main goal with this visualization was to represent the overall trend of the data. I kept in mind that these were subjective, potentially variable opinions, and tried to provide the maximum amount of information in a clear and accessible way for the audience. The concept behind this visualization was to represent both positive and negative responses in a balanced way, allowing the reader to interpret them freely. I used a color key to distinguish between the two categories, thus emphasizing "asymmetric symmetry."

The resulting form of this combination of data is fluid and changeable, reflecting the nature of the information represented. The shape was designed to be immediately understandable once we learned how to read it, and a legend was included in the infographic to explain the interpretation. As for the colors, they were chosen to provide a reading order and identification of positive and negative responses. Brighter and more chromatic colors were used for positive responses, while darker and dirtier colors were assigned to negative responses.
